Social Networks

I founded Book Place to provide authors a forum to promote their books. I visit there often, interact with its members and post previews on the front page to advertise coming events, such as special guest appearances on my blogs.

Another place I like to visit is MySpace, where I can make friends with not only book people, but those from all walks of life. I often take advantage of their bulletin boards to tell friends what's happening in my world.

I stop off at Facebook, Bebo and GoodReads, but not as often because of time constraints.

The network I do visit many times each day is Twitter. That's because it's so simple. It's fast and easy and contains no ads. I can get in, post a message about my latest blog, and get out of there knowing anyone who is following me can see my message.

By the way, if you click any of the links above, you can join me on these networks.

What about you? What are your favorite social networks? Is there one you use more than the others? Why? Please share.

I'm still trying to catch up in this department. I have so much trouble keeping up with the loops I'm on, the social networks have gone by the wayside. I need to check some of these out. Thanks for sharing, Morgan!

I feel like there is so much I still don't know about social networks because I haven't had to time to really digest everything.

I am at Book Place, Book Marketing Network, YA Not, Sun Oasis, Roundtable, CPSIA Central, and a few others. I'm also on Twitter, Facebook, Gather, and Shelfari. Not too bad for someone who has very little clue. LOL!

Like you, Morgan, I've drifted to Twitter, where I can keep up with book news, as well as political news. It's where I first read about John Updike's death from the NYTimes flash news.

I'm on my blog numberous times during the day, and Twitter every few hours. I still use Book Place, MySpace, Facebook, Goodreads, Shelfari, LibraryThing, but I have trouble accessing some of them regularly. I also subscribe to DorothyL and FictionL. But, I find myself accessing even my RSS feeds less now that I have Twitter.

For now, Twitter works best for me. Until something better comes along! (And, I came to this article via Twitter.)

I belong to a lot of social networking groups....but don't really utilize them. I don't have time.

I use twitter all the time, but often wonder if anyone is reading my tweets? I really like the brevity of twitter.

I have about a dozen social sites, including your Book Place! I don't hit MySpace but 1-2 times a week, but I'm on FaceBook & Twitter often.
My daily site it Deviant Art. My writer's club is on there as well, so I easily spend over an hour a day on that social site!

I have to limit my social networks in order to have time to write fiction, read fiction, blog, work, and you name it.

For general outside of my own milieu networking I do a little myspace and a lot of twitter.

But in general my main thrust for socializing AND writing is at http://www.panhistoria.com where I write and hang out with a lot of interesting like-minded folks.

I like Twitter too for the same reason. GoodShelf I finally did some work there. Except these sites make me feel compel to add friends. I don't want to be know as the only person on the whole Internet with one or two friends. oh Yuck. ha ha I'm pitiful. I know.

I do facebook, twitter, myspace, goodreads, shelfari, and yet I never manage to update as regularly as I should. funny how that works.

Lots of us can't get to them all, but it's nice to know they're out there for us to use!

Great advice Morgan,
I'll have to try Twitter-there are so many-where do we stop, and it takes so much time.
