Tell Us About Your Book

We haven't done this for a while, so here goes. If you have a book already out or to be released, please tell us what it's about, but make it short, as if you were giving an elevator pitch. Also, please leave one buy link.

If you're not an author, maybe you'd like to mention a book you particularly liked or plan to read. Or, just check over what you see here and you might find something you'll like to read.

I'll start with Killer Career, my romantic suspense, about a lawyer whose career change could be a killer. She has no idea her mentor not only writes about murders, but also participates in them. When she learns the law partner she's leaving may mean more to her than she'd thought, it could be too late for both of them.

Available in print at Amazon, ebooks for 99 cents on Kindle and Smashwords.

Now, let's hear about more books!

LURE OF THE MUMMY is a horror novella about a sad-sack translator named Bert in my beloved Cairo whose life becomes entangled with an cat mummy. Surely it has to be just another ancient votive mummy, but after everything suddenly starts going right in Bert's life, he can't be sure. Only thing is, everything has its price.

An comment - LURE OF THE MUMMY is not only my first horror novella, it is the first one ever published by Carina Press or by its parent company, Harlequin. Does that make me a groundbreaker or a guinea pig?

Homegrown terrorism is the theme of Murder on the Interstate but the book is tempered with humor and romance. Dana Logan and Sarah Cafferty, two 60-year old feisty amateur sleuths discover the body of a young woman in her Mercedes convertible along a nothern Arizona highway, and they learn of a terrorist plot to take down the country, based on today's headlines. Carolyn Hart blurbed the book, as did many others. It's avalable at http://tinyurl.com/3jfntkw on Kindle for $2.99 and the print and Nook editions will be available later this month.

I have a new one coming out this month, but the current book is a fantasy, EEL'S REVERENCE.

With corrupt priests, greedy merchants and rebellious parishioners bracing for battle, "true" priest Aunt Libby wins the hearts and minds of some of the humans and mermayds around her. If they aren't enough, if they fail her under pressure, the best the people of The Eel can hope for is a brutal suppression. The worst is a bloodbath that will made the sea run red.

Wee Three, brings to life the wondrous discovery and untarnished innocence of one’s childhood. It combines the whimsical with the wistful, and the frequently humorous poems are sure to delight children, parents and grandparents alike.
Throughout its pages the reader is taken on a poetic trip back in time to the simpler, carefree years of our youth, when nothing was more important than chasing bumblebees or taking jovial walks through the snow. This is truly a book for generations to enjoy, especially when they can enjoy it together!
Each piece is its own delightful gem. The melodically rhyming verses, wonderfully illustrated by Hazel Mitchell, capture the curiosity that small children have for their own little universe, as they wonder about nature, pets and, most of all, the behavior of grown-ups. There's a prevailing sense throughout the book that these activities are a crucial part of growing up.

I meant to add some books I have enjoyed and am enjoying.

I think this is a lovely time of year to be reading about the chilly setting and neat mystery of "The Blue Hackle" by Lillian Stewart Carl. I liked being immersed in this mystery. I hope she will do another of this series as I want to see what this duo would do next -- maybe at their first anniversary in this same wonderful Scottish setting. "The Pot Thief Who Studied Ptolemy" was fun though I feared I might gain weight while just reading about happy houring with Hubie and his friend. I will read all of these. Tana French's "In the Woods" was hard to put down and I read it fast. I look forward to the rest of her work. Something lighter like one of Alice Duncan's novels, maybe "Fallen Angels" is good to read at the same time as a heavy choice and is cheering and charming and thought provoking even while discussing murder. I read Mary Roberts Rinehart for the first time in years when I snagged a copy of "The Window at the White Cat" from my favorite used bookstore & was reminded of why I like her so much. Right now, I am reading "Pretty is as Pretty Dies" and "Negative Image."

You will enjoy encounters with such characters as a mythical Skunk Ape; an innovative detective doling out justice in his own unique way; a dream stealer; an Aztec would-be priest who learns to seize the moment; a baker who doesn't know when to quit, and others. M. E. Landress, author of Sour Grapes has said these are "Exemplary stories crafted with both an edgy darkness and a sly sense of humor." SwampMist.com

Hi Morgan! I really like when you do this. As I was driving home from work tonight I heard a new song on the local college indy-rock channel. The song was about his "dirty little girl, she gives it away for free, she doesn't love me, but I'm in love with my dirty, little girl..."
My latest book is about a college student who tells the hero she is trying to get the college to let her minor in sex, because it's what she likes the most about being there! He can only spare one night a week from his medical studies, but they both start to look forward to that one night. Just when he gets her to agree to give up other men, they graduate and she moves out of state. He becomes rich and successful, but in the middle of a divorce, he decides to go find her, to see if he can still convince her they belong together.

I would like to interest you in my book of poetry "Poems of Youth and Turbulence", which was published on 6th July by the leading mental health publisher Chipmunkapublishing as a sequel to my novel "The Madhouse of Love", which written at the age of 17, is based on my own experiences as a teenager in a psychiatric unit.

The poems range from my early teens to mid-20s, many of the later poems dealing with lost love and depression, reflecting the sadness of an unhappy young man who had fallen from a previous state of ecstasy into melancholy.

My novel, THE GOD'S WIFE, just came out on Tuesday and is available as an e-book or paperback from Fiction Studio Books. It's a historical fiction (ancient Egypt) with lots of mysticism and magic. It features the real role of the God's Wife of Amun, a priestess who was second in power to the pharaoh, who is having trouble with the politicians in the palace. Somehow a contemporary woman is sensing her problems in deep dreams about Egypt. Their worlds begin to come together.
What is pulling their worlds together? Is it magic or science? And who will live or die?

The book is available on Amazon.com, barnesandnoble.com, iBook at iTunes and other sources that sell e-books. The paperback is at Amazon.com only.

My new novel, Night Undone, was just released on August 5th. Night Undone follows former Special Agent Kathrin Night as she tries to adjust to civilian life. More than a year after her career-ending injury, she still can’t get the hang of it. This is wearing thin on her lover, Russian FSB Agent Aleksey Khovechkin, who tricks Kathrin into seeing a psychiatrist specializing in post-military/espionage patients. The therapy doesn’t go exactly as Aleksey hopes, but before he can react, Russia recalls him to make him an offer he can’t refuse. Kathrin hatches a scheme to help Aleksey while at the same time reviving her career in espionage. The Vancouver Winter Olympics could be the perfect venue for her plan, but can she pull it off without destroying their relationship, causing an international incident, or getting either of them killed?

Night Undone is published by Cambridge Books and is available online and through Amazon.com in print, e-book, Nook and Kindle.

In a small fictional town in the northeast corner of Massachusetts a mysterious package from out of the past has the residents buzzing. The original recipient had long since passed, and the sender of the package had died at sea in a tragedy that stunned the world. Where had this package been all these years, and why, even if it was postmarked the year it was sent, was it never delivered? When the present day recipient received the mysterious package, he wondered if he opened it, would he be opening a Pandora's Box. But, neither he nor his wife were aware that his thoughts would ring true, or the strange events and entities that would envelop his family and the family of the original sender.

Hi, my first book is called A Heart of Little Faith.

Lily Livingston is a widow raising her six-year-old daughter, Claire, in New York City. Devastated by her husband’s death three years ago, she’s in no hurry to fall in love again. Besides, trying to balance her career with motherhood leaves her little time for romance.

With a wheelchair instead of a white horse, and a vow against falling in love again as his armor, Gideon Stone is the last person Lily expects to sweep her off her feet. But when a business agreement forces the two of them together, that is exactly what happens.

As they navigate the minefield that fast represents their relationship, can either of them overcome the obstacles to find true happiness in each other’s arms? The answer is yes, but the bumps along the way demonstrate that neither of them can go it alone.

For a robust Tudor novel (without royal ladies) see 'Tom Fleck' by Harry Nicholson.
The first chapter can be read on my blog:
http://1513fusion.wordpress.com/
But here be the blurb:
The year: 1513. The place: North-East England.
Tom Fleck, a downtrodden farm worker but gifted archer, yearns to escape his masters. He unearths two objects that could be keys to freedom: a torque of ancient gold and a Tudor seal ring. He cannot know how these finds will determine his future.
Rachel Coronel craves an end to her wanderings. When the torque comes to rest around the neck of this mysterious woman, an odyssey begins which draws Tom Fleck into borderlands of belief and race.
The seal ring propels Tom on a journey of self-knowledge that can only climax in another borderland, among the ‘flowers of the forest’ on Flodden Field.

It is on Amazon in paperback and for Kindle

NORMAL FOR NORFOLK (THE THELONIOUS T. BEAR CHRONICLES) by Mitzi Szereto and Teddy Tedaloo

It's a quirky new crime novel and the first in the new series from myself, co-authored with my celebrity sidekick bear, Teddy Tedaloo

If you’ve heard of the raunchy teddy bear from the current American hit film “Ted”, you’ll definitely want to meet Normal for Norfolk’s unlikely hero, Thelonious T. Bear, a Mini Cooper-driving teddy from ol’ Blighty!

Pub landlords are being murdered in Norfolk!
Thelonious T. Bear, ursine photojournalist, leaves behind the big city life of London to take an assignment in the Norfolk countryside, where he hopes to find the real England. Instead he stumbles upon gastro-pubs, crazed Audi drivers and murder. As the hapless Thelonious keeps ending up in the wrong place at the wrong time, he attracts the attention of Detective Chief Inspector Horatio Sidebottom of Norfolk Constabulary CID, who’s determined to tie Thelonious to the crimes. Add in a pair of hoods from London’s East End, celebrity TV chef Paolo Louis Black, and plenty of oddball local characters and it all adds up to a madcap journey through England’s most quirky county, where everything is normal for Norfolk!
