Most of the time I'm not in this world. I'm either reading or writing a book, watching TV or a DVD or going to a movie. At least, when I'm reading blogs, and hopefully on Facebook and other networks, I'm in this world, unless people are making up stuff.
Sometimes, I wonder. Am I living my own life, or someone or many someone elses'? Should I be paying more attention to the here and now, and not this imaginary world?
But, it's so much fun not being of this world.
What about you? Are you out of this world, like I am?

Definitely! We writers are media users and story tellers, so it's only reasonable that we would want to hear, see, and read stories ourselves.
I think we still live in the real world--it's just that our world has more inhabitants!
Reminds me of one of my favorite T-Shirts: "I live in my own little world, but it's okay. They know me here."
Of course, another favorite is "Some people have one of those days. I have one of those lives." I don't own that T-Shirt because when I saw it the only size available was small. Just another dollop of additional proof of the premise.
But readers and writers are a bit like the Chinese philosopher who dreamed he was a butterfly and asked if he was really a man who dreamed he was a butterfly or was he a butterfly who dreamed he was a man?

Is it possible we can be here and now in the midst of everything – our very “own” and our imaginary life stories, our professions, successes and failures, and also know who we really are – the dream or the dreamer?

Ah, sometimes it's so much more fun to be out of this world. This one is too crazy.
Hi, Morgan! I'm late posting because I've been out of it all day. Unfortunately, not lost in a book, but doing freelance writing. Still, much of the time I'm in another world. Those who know me in this world have slowly gotten used to it.
Sometimes I wish I could be more "out of this world" but between my garden and my grandson, I seem to be more in this world than out of it!
I definately spend most of my time out of this world. But when I'm in it, I'm in it 100%!
I love being out of this world. And I really like jumping from world to world. I enjoy switching gears to work on a character in the 1840's only to move onto my sci-fi superman type character. Then my granddaughters walk into my house and I'm happy to be back in this world.
I always ask my preschoolers before we begin a storytime, "Did you bring your imagination with you today?" They always yell out an enthusiastic, Yes!

Hi Morgan,
I slip in and out of this world on a regular basis, but my own isn't so bad. When parts of it get too insane, though, it helps to shut it out for a while. Lately I've been looking in on Mark Twain's world, but Lord, he had troubles of his own.
